Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week can be summed up in two words: Exceptionally Ambitious.
Some girls imagine Heaven as a glorious castle in the sky, surrounded by angels and unicorns. Some imagine it as an elusive and mystical jungle hidden beneath the surface of our crust. Some even imagine it as an endless bowl of ice cream. Then there are the girls like me, who believe Heaven is a place on Earth, and appears only twice a year in the form of the New York Fashion Week.
Now, I am well aware that Milan, London, and Paris also deal their hand in the bi-annual game of fashion, but lets get real. NYFW starts first for a reason.
Beginning in 1943, the first NYFW was actually held to draw attention away from the French during WWII. And thus came the week that every little fashion alien waits for.
So lets have a re-cap of everything that stood out. (To me of course)
Betsey Johnson
My dear, you have done it again. Always a highly anticipated designer, Betsey Johnson will always bring the fierce, and the fun. Her pallet was very interesting, maintaining femininity, and modern, with a twist of a futuristic metallic, this collection was a refreshing relief.
Zimmerman
Nicky Zimmermann has always been a huge inspiration for me. With her delicate fabric, and her ridiculously girly spin on everyday clothing, she brings the perfect balance of modest, and sexy. But Nicky, what did you try and do with the last photo?! Both items are, alone, fantastic. But together?
Herve Leger by Max Azria
Patterns galore!! I'm never one for redundant clothing, but for some reason, I just couldn't get enough! There were plenty of designers trying to incorporate the futuristic look (Explaining why i summed the week up as exceptionally ambitious), but Azria took the cake. I wish I could say more, but there are no words.
Stay tuned for my re-caps on those who attended the MBFW.
Thanks again for another bountiful harvest, Fashion Gods. We are all thankful.
XOXO
